Lime Crime is a brand I've always been intrigued by because of their out-there, quirky colours and eccentric, bright packaging. Recently, my sister won one of their Opaque Lipsticks in a competition and it was my sneaky sisterly duty to try it out - after all, I only do her makeup for her ALL the time! She ended up picking out the shade Centrifuchsia which is definitely one of their more tame and wearable shades.
Of course, the packaging must be addressed! I'm sure you've all seen the Lime Crime packaging before - it's certainly not one you'd forget. The lipstick is actually fatter than I expected. I thought it was just like the MAC packaging (tampon-esque) and it is, but a bit bigger. It is a bright purple shade with a holographic unicorn and sparkles encircling it. Awesome. It shuts securely and sure is very fun packaging! The bullet itself comes to quite a point that makes it pretty easy to get a precise application of the product.
I've heard lots of good things about the formula, so I was expecting greatness - or at least something to do the amazing packaging justice! The lipstick has the slightest sheen to it and glides on very easily with very good pigmentation. It is slightly buildable though and retains the slightest bit of translucency. It can be applied quite heavily or lightly depending on the coverage you're after. The texture is very thin and comfortable on the lips. The staying power is really amazing! This particular shade stains the lips quite a bit - to the degree that the stain was still there the next morning! The sheen wears down pretty soon after application, but the colour hangs around for a good four or so hours afterward. You could probably get away without reapplying after eating - depends on what you're eating though haha!
Centrifuchsia is a fuchsia colour as the name suggests, but slightly darker with a touch more raspberry-red to it. I think this colour would be very much universally flattering and very wearable with a multitude of other makeup looks, but it can still be quite bold.
The lipstick certainly is lovely and there's not much more you could improve on really! They aren't terribly expensive at AUD$22 from Princess Polly, but prices vary depending on where you purchase them from. Their shade range certainly is remarkable with very unique colours. I would be interested in picking up some more shades - I particularly like the look of Poisonberry and Geradium.
Have you tried any of Lime Crime's lipsticks?
