Lime Crime is a brand I've always been intrigued by because of their out-there, quirky colours and eccentric, bright packaging. Recently, my sister won one of their Opaque Lipsticks in a competition and it was my sneaky sisterly duty to try it out - after all, I only do her makeup for her ALL the time! She ended up picking out the shade Centrifuchsia which is definitely one of their more tame and wearable shades.
Of course, the packaging must be addressed! I'm sure you've all seen the Lime Crime packaging before - it's certainly not one you'd forget. The lipstick is actually fatter than I expected. I thought it was just like the MAC packaging (tampon-esque) and it is, but a bit bigger. It is a bright purple shade with a holographic unicorn and sparkles encircling it. Awesome. It shuts securely and sure is very fun packaging! The bullet itself comes to quite a point that makes it pretty easy to get a precise application of the product.
I've heard lots of good things about the formula, so I was expecting greatness - or at least something to do the amazing packaging justice! The lipstick has the slightest sheen to it and glides on very easily with very good pigmentation. It is slightly buildable though and retains the slightest bit of translucency. It can be applied quite heavily or lightly depending on the coverage you're after. The texture is very thin and comfortable on the lips. The staying power is really amazing! This particular shade stains the lips quite a bit - to the degree that the stain was still there the next morning! The sheen wears down pretty soon after application, but the colour hangs around for a good four or so hours afterward. You could probably get away without reapplying after eating - depends on what you're eating though haha!
Centrifuchsia is a fuchsia colour as the name suggests, but slightly darker with a touch more raspberry-red to it. I think this colour would be very much universally flattering and very wearable with a multitude of other makeup looks, but it can still be quite bold.
The lipstick certainly is lovely and there's not much more you could improve on really! They aren't terribly expensive at AUD$22 from Princess Polly, but prices vary depending on where you purchase them from. Their shade range certainly is remarkable with very unique colours. I would be interested in picking up some more shades - I particularly like the look of Poisonberry and Geradium.
Have you tried any of Lime Crime's lipsticks?
Crap, I FORGOT THAT IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY LOL HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! #crappyfriend
ReplyDeleteYeah, Lime Crime has always been a brand I've been intrigued about, but I'm about as basic bish as they come, sticking to the most boring neutrals and all. Also, TAMPON-ESQUE??? LOL gonna steal/use that one whenever I can. This colour is absolutely gorrrrgeous....much like a radiant unicron.
Yes, unicron.
Aww, ily bae! Lawl, I forgive you because you are like...14 hours behind? So thank you for remembering! :D BTW when is ur bday? Crappy friends need to know this stuff haha.
DeleteBahaa, I add esque to like, everything. I'm a basic bish too yo, neutrals rule my life. Oh yes, much radiance on that unicron.
Sometime in September! I feel like I've already marked down a lot of my bblogger friends' birthdays. Weird? Meh.
DeleteAww that's not weird - it's cute! Bruuuuu when in September?? No help just knowing the month! Unless you want month long celebrations lol.
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday my fellow may baby :) I have been eyeing the lime crime lipsticks like CRAAZY! They're so stunning, but they're always sold out... to be honest, that's probably a supernatural sign telling me that I have too many lipsticks and that I should give up!

Thanks girl! Happy bday to whenever yours rolls around this month (or if it's already been?)! Haha, maybe that is a sign! I'm sure they'll come back in stock sometime, and maybe by then you'll have room for them haha :)
DeleteCentrifuchsia is such a pretty colour! Looks so nice against your skin tone! Btw, you're right, MAC lipsticks are very tampon-y! HAHA!x

Thank you! Haha yeah, makeup muggles would probably think they are tampons!
Deletelime crime is definitely next on my lippy product hit list! really keen on the staying power - esp if it stains til the next morning XD btw happy belated birthday!

Thank you! Yes, it did stain quite a lot! But wasn't at all drying. Let me know if you pick any up!
DeleteI ordered the shade coquette many months ago and now sort of regret it because it's a bit too light for me (although it can be corrected with a pinky lipstick over) however I paid quite a high shipping cost and the formula still quite emphasizes my lip lines a lot compared to other formulas that work better on me. I now know where to order it without shipping cost and totally want a red shade!
ReplyDeleteI think their two nudes would be too pale for me too. I've heard that some shades have white bases making them much more opaque, so I suspect that particular shade has a slightly different formula to this one, which doesn't have a white base.
DeleteGorgeous shade!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!!! (i totally didn't forget...but I'm going to mark your birthday in my calendar, not in a creepy way or anything just to be prepared for next year) And omg the unicorn on the lipstick just completely got my attention, I don't know why it got me so excited but...unicorns! I literally cannot unsee that the MAC lipsticks, and this one, look like tampons, now every time I see a round-top lipstick I'll just be thinking about tampons! Anyway this colour looks really gorgeous on you!! x

Aww thanks girly! Haha that's cute, when's yours so I can write it in my diary!?
DeleteUh, no reason is needed to get excited about unicorns because - UNICORNS. Haha yeah most unfortunate object to look like!
Wow, this is gorgeous! I'm such a sucker for fuchsia lipsticks and this one looks perfect. I've never tried Lime Crime, but I've been way tempted. Glad you're liking this :)

This looks gorgeous! I've been wanting to try Lime Crime forever, but one of the normal colours like this one haha...I have MAC's Girl About Town though, so its probably a bit too similar...but a girl can never have too many pink lippies, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm not sure how similar they are exactly, but in the same vein I guess. You're right though, never can have enough lippies in general!
DeleteNo way, I didn't know they sold Lime Crime at Princess Polly! CRAZYTOWN. Brb going there right now.
ReplyDeleteKirsten | kirstenlearns.com
Yeah they do! Matches with their quirkiness I guess.
Deletei lold at your tampon assiociation to mac lipsticks! its true! i wanted to get this exact color too but its this brand is unreasonably expensive here in my country. its a nice bold color tho plus it has a unicorn on its packaging <3
ReplyDeleteHaha, once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Aww that sucks, can't you get it anywhere online for cheaper?
Deletetampon-esque, lol! I've seen this shade around and think it's beautiful, not a fan of that style packaging but can see how many love it :)
