What's in my Custom Palette?

No favourites post again this month because there haven't been many new products I've been loving, so I thought I'd show some love to a constant fave in my collection that I don't mention too often (or at all really!) - my custom palette! It's actually a Z-Palette but since the whole social media debacle a year or so ago I don't totally want to support them (lol). Mine's actually basically full now though, so the next empty palette I buy will probably be from Colourpop or something (there are literally so many on the market so I'll have no probs not buying from Z-Palette again haha!). I have shadows from Colourpop, Makeup Geek and MAC in here, some of which are staples in my collection! So here is a dedicated post with swatches and reviews of all of them! :)

Covergirl x Katy Perry // Katy Kat Palettes

While I'm overwhelmingly a dog person...I gotta admit that these palettes are pretty fricken adorable! Then again, I am a sucker for any makeup that has a special embossing or pattern on it! Today I'm coming at you with a review and swatches of the two limited edition Covergirl and Katy Perry Katy Kat Palettes in Hot Kat* and Cool Kat*. I'll be honest with ya, I wasn't expecting the greatest from these since I've become a bit of a snob with eyeshadow and much prefer high end brands (and Colourpop) - but these pleasantly surprised me!

ColourPop Reviews #4

It seems like Colourpop is the only brand I ever talk about on here anymore...but can you blame me? I'm still thoroughly enjoying their products, and I'm here to share the batch of reviews from my last big order! As I say in basically every post, I just can't get enough of Colourpop! They have such a wide range of products, colours and finishes, and all at super affordable prices. The fact that they keep pumping out new releases doesn't help either! I told myself this would be my last order for a looong while though...

ColourPop Reviews #3

It kinda feels like Colourpop is the only makeup I'm buying right now - as evidenced by the fact that I just made another massive order last week. What can I say, I am loving them right now! Honestly they cannot be beat in terms of affordability, product quality and product range. They really do offer very good quality, trendy products in a huge range for very low prices. Not to mention the fact that they are constantly having sales and release a new product what seems like every other day. All of that combined means I just can't resist making orders all over the place! That being said, was I the only person to notice they increased the prices of the Ultra Mattes and Satins by 50c?? Petty I know, but dang Colourpop why u do. Anyway I made a couple of orders at the end of last year, and I've had enough play time to write some reviews! Check out my other Colourpop reviews here, here and here.

The Desert at Dusk

It seems that eyeshadow palettes are my vice... I have more than enough warm eyeshadows to last a lifetime but apparently I needed one more (oh and I've since purchased two more (warm!) eyeshadow palettes...damn you Colourpop!). Although I was adamant that I wasn't going to buy the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette...it somehow made its way into my basket. It's eye-wateringly expensive at $95 (luckily I got it for 20% off) but there's something about this combination of colours that inspired me and was definitely unique to me and my collection. By no means does that justify the purchase, but I have to say I'm really happy I bit the bullet!

Magnify with Rimmel's Magnif'eyes

Rimmel recently released their Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palettes* which are larger, revamped versions of their previous 6 pan eyeshadow palettes. They've come out with four 'editions'; Nude, Blush, Smoke and Colour, and I was very generously sent them all to review! While it is amazing to see drugstore brands come out with larger eyeshadow palettes, I do think Rimmel slightly missed the mark with these. They aren't bad palettes by any means, but there are certain aspects of them that could definitely be improved! Keep reading for my full thoughts and swatches...

Desi x Katy // Dose of Colors

Hello chickens! Chickens seems like an appropriate greeting for this post seeing as chickens are Desi's ~thang~, holla at me if you a part of her coop! I am finally getting my act together and writing my review for the Dose of Colors Desi x Katy collection! I managed to get my hands on a few of the products when they first launched, and they are having their third and final restock on October 18th at 9am PST. So I figured I should probably get my review up before these become impossible to get! If you guys didn't know, Desi and Katy are my absolute favourite Youtubers - they are hilarious, talented and their relationship is so genuine and adorable! If you follow them on Youtube, be sure to hit them up on Snapchat too because that's where the good shit is ;) It took all of my willpower to not get the entire collection - everything is so gorgeous! From the packaging to the products, the collection screams Desi and Katy and from other reviews, every product performs absolutely amazingly! Spoiler I guess - because I love what I got from the collection! I bought their Eyeshadow Palette aka "The Girls", lipstick in More Creamer Please and the two Liquid Matte Lipsticks in Hot Fire and Saváge.

Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit

I know I am really late on the bandwagon for reviewing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit (I mean, everyone's long gone on the Fenty highlighter train by now!), but I did really want to do a full review on it! I do apologise for my lateness though, because it seems now that this highlighter palette is sold out almost everywhere...eek! I'm not completely sure what the status on it is, from what I heard - it's flip flopped from limited edition, to permanent, back to limited edition, and I'm really not sure if it's coming back! Part of the reason why I delayed this review for so long (besides my laziness) is because it took me a while to make my mind up about it! I do have some mixed thoughts...

Spring Strobing

I always seem to be a little late on the hottest trends, and the "colour shifty highlights" trend was no exception. Despite the fact that these might not be in fashion any more, I'm glad I waited out the hype to purchase the Zoeva Spring Spectrum Highlighting Palette. I was most wary of how "unwearable" colourful highlighters would be, but thankfully - Zoeva's palette is pretty wearable! It contains four shades, and from what I hear, is a really great, cheaper alternative to the Kat Von D Alchemist palette!

Flashin' Those Pearly Lights

Remember how I said I was content with my highlighter collection...? Whelp - here I am with a brand new one to add to the stash (aaaand I also got the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero palette haha :P )! To be fair though, my lovely friends Lucy and Jacinta (shoutouts!) gave this to me for my birthday, so it's really not my fault that they're feeding my addiction... The highlighter palette in question is the collaboration between Smashbox and Casey Holmes - the Spotlight Palette in Pearl. This wasn't one that really caught my attention very much, but I'm actually really liking it so big ups to ma mates. Also do ya like the title, pearly lights...pearly whites? Geddit?

In The Spotlight // Milani Cosmetics

I'm back with another brand spotlight post, this time for Milani Cosmetics. Unfortunately I only have three products (trust me, I wish I had more) but they're all definitely worth talking about! Milani is a brand I've always been interested in but unfortunately don't have the easiest access to! We can pretty easily purchase their products online now which is great, but sometimes I just like to have a play in person! The three products I do have from them though are all pretty great...keep reading for my full review!

The Perfect Palette Tag

Palettes, palettes, palettes! Lord knows I love a good palette and I've certainly amassed a big enough collection to show for it! I've been meaning to do the perfect palette tag for the looooongest time, I think someone might have tagged me to do it but it was so long ago I've forgotten who it was - sorry! I kept putting it off because I kept wanting to wait until I got that palette that was on my wishlist (which was neverending). Finally, I think I'm pretty happy with my collection and as of right now...there aren't any palettes actively calling my name! Just wait a week or two though... Shoutout to my blush/face palettes too! I love you guys ya just didn't fit any of the categories :'( Anyway, let's dive in!

The Renaissance Resurgence

I know this palette has probably been all over your feeds for months and months...but how could anyone ever get sick of looking at it!? I have had the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette for a good couple of months now, and like everyone else, I've fallen in love with it. I purchased mine from Beautylish for $42 (USD) which I would highly recommend! Fast shipping and much cheaper than buying from the ABH website, Sephora AU or Beauty Bay. Keep reading for swatches and my full thoughts!

Light Those Cheeks Up

Can't quite believe it's only a few days until Christmas but alas, here we are! While I didn't go ham with the holiday releases this year, one product that majorly stood out to me was the Smashbox Light It Up L.A. Lights Palette. This is my first product from Smashbox and it's definitely a brand I want to explore more (HEllooo Covershot eyeshadow palettes!). This palette contains nine face powders - a mix of blushes, highlighters and a bronzer - and is absolutely incredible value for money!  It contains almost 40g of product for a mere $57. That is like CRAZY good. Anyway - I'm here today to give you the full rundown on the palette! I probably left this a little late (sorry!) but maybe you guys need a last minute gift idea?? It seems to be out of stock online at the moment ( :( ) but you may still be able to find it instore at Mecca!

Chloe x Ciate // Pretty, Fun and Fearless

As one of my favourite Australian youtubers, I was very much intrigued when Chloe Morello first announced her collaboration with Ciate London. Mostly known for their nail polishes, Ciate has only quite recently ventured into makeup and having tried nothing from them before - I was a bit wary when approaching this collection! I hadn't heard much about Ciate's makeup, but I decided to trust in Chloe! Everything in her Beauty Haul really appealed to me, and at $70, I thought it was a pretty good deal! This set has sold out a couple of times already in Australia, but I've heard rumblings that Mecca is trying to get together some more stock, so if you wanted it but didn't manage to get it, keep an eye out! Anyway - let's get into the review!

Not So Peachy Keen...

So it's been a hot minute since the crazed furor over the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Collection with the hype finally dying down...slightly. I figured now was a good a time as any to post my review on it as I've had it for a couple of months and have been using it pretty consistently! This review may be useless as there are a million out there already, and the palette is limited edition and currently sold out (though apparently Too Faced is working on another release come the holidays), BUT I do have some thoughts on this palette that I thought were worth sharing! As the title may suggest, I have seriously mixed feelings on this palette! I will try and articulate my thoughts concisely, but no promises - this post could be a bit of a word vomit!

New In // Rimmel London

One of my favourite drugstore brands, Rimmel, has been on FIYAH lately with their new releases! The past couple of months has seen the launch of a new lipstick line, lip liner shades, cream shadow sticks, a tinted primer and a contour kit! I've been lucky enough to have been sent some of the new goodies and have been testing them out quite a bit! Keep reading to hear my thoughts...

Becca's Ombré Nudes

Becca - the brand that has been taking the world by storm! I've only tried their cheek products; their shimmering skin perfectors (powder and liquid) which I LOVE, and their shimmer souffle which I'm pretty lukewarm about. Another of their hit products is their Ombré Nudes Eye Palette* which i was lucky enough to try out! As much as I think Becca has some beautiful, quality products - I'm a bit annoyed that they're an Australian brand that really hard to get in Australia. In person, you can only find them at Sephora since they pulled from David Jones. Luckily though, there are a bunch of online retailers such as Activeskin that sell Becca - and often at a slightly discounted price!

One Shocking Moment

Holy wow Christmas is so soon and everyone's busting out their gift guides while I'm just here buying gifts for myself. wuuUTT WUUT. Anyway, I have to say the Holiday releases this year were pretty great, you can read about my picks here. I feel like the hype has sort of died down and hopefully everything hasn't sold out. I thought I would finally write up my review of the NARS x Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio Palette. Hopefully this review isn't redundant seeing as most people have seen/heard a bunch about this palette or...they own it, and you guys know I already love it but what da heck, this guy deserves a post all to himself!

Geeking Out

Makeup Geek is a brand that's always been on my mind, but is it just me, or have they blown up recently? Maybe it's just because I got wildly obsessed with Jaclyn Hill, but my urge to make a Makeup Geek order got to be too much! When they had a free shipping promotion a little while ago - I jumped on that 'ish and made a big ol' order! Pretty much all of these are Jaclyn Hill faves haha :P
