So we are well and truly on our way to the end of the year - mind boggling isn't it?! August has been pretty busy! Last week was assessment-heavy, but from here on out I pretty much have some sort of assessment every week which should be fun... Also - in case you missed it, Brisbane (where I live) was hit with Thor-mania! It was a bit hilarious actually, but Thor Ragnarok is currently filming at the Gold Coast and they came up to Brisbane for a few days to film some "city" scenes. They legit "transformed" Brisbane into New York City and disrupted traffic which got some people pretty annoyed but they also attracted huge crowds (me included...). What can I say, nothing ever happens here and that was pretty damn exciting! After waiting a solid few hours (in the rain!), I got a photo with Chris Hemsworth! Actually not my photo, but I sneaked in the background ;P Unfortunately, I didn't get one with my one true love Tom Hiddleston, but maybe it's better this way.... *CRIES* Anyway, I wasn't sure if I was going to do a favourites post this month because been using all the same stuff, but there were a few products that I've been using a lot that I haven't mentioned in a while!
Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub 14%*
I was very kindly sent a couple of Skinstitut products to try which I was really excited about as I've heard awesome things about them! Folks, they do not disappoint! I also have the Glycolic Cleanser which I'm really liking, but I've definitely noticed the most results with the scrub. It's very grainy, but not too harsh or scratchy - just use gentle pressure with it! I use it once or twice a week and my skin is so smooth and bright afterwards! I've been quite skincare focused the past couple of months, but what can I say, I'm really happy with the state of my skin at the mo and I'm only hoping it will get better from here on out!
NARS Laguna Bronzer
My NARS One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio Palette has been getting a workout again - though it is a constant in my rotation. I get the most use out of Laguna in here - we all know it's a cult bronzer and I didn't think it would live up to the hype, but it really does! It's not too dark, not too pigmented, has a bit of a golden sheen that's more of a satin finish and it blends extremely well. I love this for more "natural" days, or when I want a more sunkissed bronze look. Along with warming up the face, it also adds a bit of definition and dimension.
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle
I just spoke about this in my MAC collection post so I won't dwell for long. It's the highlighter I've been loving this month though! It's my go-to for a more neutral highlight that's not too intense, which is generally what I want for day-to-day.
This month I've been pretty low-key on the eyes - most of the time I can't be bothered to think about what eyeshadows to use, which is when this palette is perfect! It's the perfect selection of easy, neutral browns that coordinate together and go with everything. It adds a bit of dimension and shadow to the eye while remaining natural - though you can make it smokey if you choose!
Again, I've been opting for the more natural look. Patisserie is probably my most worn lipstick and is my go-to for easy, no-fuss lips. It's my kind of MLBB - peachy, rosey, sheer and shiny. So easy to reapply without a mirror as well!
Netflix Stranger Things
Like everyone else in the world (and The Upside Down), I've been obsessed with Stranger Things. I kept hearing everyone talk about it, and my friend Yas finally forced me to watch it and thank LAWDY. Yo, this shiz is GOOD. It's also extremely difficult to explain. It's definitely a bit sci-fi, supernatural, thriller and slightly scary but bearable. The storyline is riveting - there are so many different facets but it doesn't get too overcomplicated, and everything weaves together nicely. The soundtrack is amaze as well, the whole 80s ~aesthetic of the show is really immersive. A+ acting too. I usually hate kid actors but man, this cast is amazing! Millie Bobby Brown is so adorable (in real life haha, though equally as loveable as Eleven)! There are only eight episodes so you'll get through it quick - you won't be able to stop!
I've also been semi-marathoning Gilmore Girls when I should be studying, but what can I say, that shiz is just so easy to watch! I am only in season 4 at the moment, so I'll probably talk more about it when I finish. So pumped for the revival though!
And that's that, what have you guys been loving this past month?
