NOTD // Perfect Posy

The whole "two-step-at-home-gel-polishes" have been the rage for quite some time now, but clearly I'm only just getting into them! After all, my last nail post was about the Sally Hansen one, and today I'm sharing one of the shades of the new Rimmel Super Gel polishes. I was sent the shade Perfect Posy* which is such a me shade - I couldn't have picked it better!

Like pretty much every other at home, no light gel system out there, the Rimmel line features a two step process, the nail colour and the gel top coat. They claim up to 14 days of gel colour and shine, which is a bit of a broad claim with the words "up to", suggesting it won't last longer than two weeks... Those claims are true then from my experience! I wore this mani for just over a week and I had some (though pretty minimal) chipping, and it was still relatively shiny! In comparison to the Sally Hansen gel offering, it lasted longer, though to be fair, my nails at the time were super damaged and prone to chipping! I have to say though, I prefer the formula of the Sally Hansen version. It might just be this particular shade, but I did end up using three coats to get full opacity. I could have done it in two, but it was still a bit streaky for my liking. The end result is really nice though, it's thick and shiny and pretty close to a real gel manicure!

The shade Perfect Posy is part of the Kate Moss shade range, and is a gorgeous peachy-pink - as peachy and pinky as you can get! It's bright, yet still has a creamy element to it. These sorts of shades are staples in my collection, so I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it!

I can't definitively say whether these two step gel formulas are really any better than a regular polish and a top coat, though I will say they do last really well and also stay shiny for longer. They're good quality polishes and worth looking into if lasting power is a real concern! These retail for $9.95 each, or $14.95 for the duo colour and top coat packs.

What are your thoughts on these at-home gel polishes?
